Lochmaben – the place with the Lochs and Castles


Lochmaben is a small town in the Dumfries and Galloway region of Scotland, located about 8 miles northeast of Dumfries and close to the A74(M).   The map will open in a new page.


A town with a rich history through the ages:

  • Iron Age Fort

  • Medieval castles

  • Middle Ages center of power for Scottish monarchy

  • William Wallace visited in the late 13th century.

  • King Robert the Bruce was born here

  • Mary Queen of Scots visited

  • Stronghold for Bruce during the struggle for Scottish independence in the 14th century


Lochmaben has an active community and is a good location for walking, relaxing and enjoying Southern Scotland.
